What is a Competent Person?
In the United Kingdom, employers have the legal duty to ensure the health and safety of their employees and state that any business with 5 employees or more (yes, that includes directors and part-time employees) must have access to competent health and safety advice.
That’s where a Competent Person comes in – a competent person is someone who’s got the right skills, knowledge, and smarts to spot and stop workplace hazards. They can also set up the right safety measures and procedures to keep the company compliant and to keep everyone out of harm’s way.
We recognise that some companies do not have the time, money or knowledge to appoint a dedicated Competent Person in-house – that’s where we can help.
Why should you use AW Safety for your Competent Person?
We don’t break the bank.
Avoid the high cost of hiring and maintaining a full-time health and safety officer and use us as your Competent Person. Not only can we ensure compliance with statutory regulations, but it’s also a more simple, cost-effective solution.
From only £50+VAT PCM, we can help with risk assessments, development of policies and procedures, providing guidance and carrying out regular inspections to help you maintain compliance.
You’ll also have access to our own IRM Connect – which includes access to Health & Safety documentation, updates to legislation changes, safety notice board posters and more.
