Duties:

  • Working in conjunction with the Health, Safety and Compliance Manager to ensure the health and wellbeing of the company’s employees, and to maintain the quality of its products
  • Conduct root cause analysis for accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify underlying causes and develop corrective actions
  • Prepare detailed reports on safety incidents, including findings, recommendations, and follow-up actions
  • Collaborate with management and employees to develop and implement safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Provide safety training to employees on topics such as hazard identification, emergency response, and safe work practices
  • Maintain safety records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Induction of new employees
  • Some quality control tasks (fraction analysis and moisture content determination)
  • Monitoring compliance with Environment Agency Permit requirements and regulations

Experience:

  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Attention to detail, basic mathematics skills, email confidence and etiquette, and a good working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets
  • Experience in the recycling industry is a preference, but not essential
  • IOSH Working Safely/Managing Safely is a minimum requirement
  • A flexible working attitude
