123 workers were killed in the workplace across 2021/22 (March – April) the HSE has confirmed with a quarter of deaths affecting workers 60 and above.

Fatalities By Industry
There is no change in the most dangerous industry with Construction reporting a total of 30 fatal injuries making up a quarter of the overall fatalities. This figure is closely followed by Agriculture and Manufacturing with 22 reported against each industry. Across the board, the industries profiled similar figures to those of previous years.
Type of Accidents
Falls from a height accounts for 29 fatalities, making it the main culprit for health & safety failings. Being struck by a moving vehicle was the next highest with 23.
