Lack of Control Measures Leads to Tragic Fall
A demolition company has been fined £5k after a corroded pipe bridge gave way leading to a worker falling 30 feet.
Falls from height continue to be the main contributor to workplace fatalities as an investigation going back to 2019 highlighted another fall this time at a power station in Fife.
Failure to put in place a sufficient risk assessment/method statement led to this tragic loss, despite the corrosion being highlighted and requested by the client.
The Middlesex-based business pleaded guilty to breaching Section 2(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.
