A 3-bedroom house suffered significant damage after much of it collapsed during a loft conversion and ground floor extension, resulting in a construction company receiving a fine. The company had failed to correctly plan, manage, and monitor the work as they used insufficient temporary supports whilst workers lacked both knowledge and experience to put adequate safety measures in place.
The company pleaded guilty of breaching Regulations 13(1) and 19(1) of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. The company was fined £30,000 and ordered to pay costs of £3,000.
